Description
Taiwan bets its national survival on electronics after being abandoned by the world at China’s behest.
Synopsis
This is the story of how Taiwan built a “silicon shield” to protect itself from Mainland Chinese attack by ensuring it became indispensable to the world as a key supplier of advanced microchips. The documentary illustrates how semiconductor technology was used as a national defense strategy by Taiwan, and how the development of the hi-tech industries in China and Taiwan reduced until now the threat of military conflict in the volatile Taiwan Strait.
