Synopsis
In the upper echelons of traditional Jordanian family, the preparations for an ostentatious wedding for Tala are well under way. But back at work in London, Tala falls in love with Leyla, a young British Indian woman who is clumsy and sensitive, and who wants to become a writer. Tala, against her will, must return to Jordan because the wedding day approaches. The pressure mounts until she finally cracks and extricates herself. Back in London, Tala is heartbroken but learns to break free of her own self-doubt and her mother’s expectations, ditching her husband to be and being honest with her parents about her sexuality. Tala finds that her own preconceptions of what love can be is the final hurdle she must jump to win Leyla back.
